Cyclists from the UK’s Polish community are heading to Kendrew Barracks, formerly RAF Cottesmore, in Rutland on Saturday 17 June to take part in RAFA Rides.

Polish Wings is made up of 6,000 amateur road cyclists, mainly originating from the Polish community in the UK. Forty cyclists from the team will be joining hundreds of others at Kendrew Barracks to raise money for the Association.

Dominik Kosciolowski from Polish Wings said: “We are very proud to be joining RAFA Rides for a second time. RAFA Rides 2022 was an absolute blast, and we can’t wait to join in again.”

Polish Wings has chosen to support RAFA Rides – and the Association – to pay tribute to personnel from the Polish Air Force, who joined forces with the RAF during the Second World War and took part in the Battle of Britain.

“We are very proud of our history and want to celebrate the contribution of Polish Squadrons 302, 303, 306 and 308 during the Second World War. We feel that our presence at RAFA Rides adds a powerful meaning to strengthen communities and show that staying united through sport and doing the right thing for a good cause makes a difference,” said Dominik.

“We aspire to engage and integrate with groups and communities, and to be visible among cyclists and within the broad range of charities that we support.”

Jenn Shephard, Head of Community Fundraising at the RAF Association said: “We’re thrilled that Polish Wings has chosen to once again support RAFA Rides. We also join the team in paying tribute to those brave individuals from the Polish Air Force who contributed to the defence of our nation during the Second World War.”
